How to check if Google Consent Mode is properly implemented ?

There are various methods to confirm proper implementation of Google Consent Mode on your website.

  1. Using Tag Assistant
  2. In-App GCM Checker and Debug Mode

Method 1: Using the Tag Assistant
  1. Log into your Google Tag Manager account and enable Preview mode from top panel.

  2. A Tag Assistant debug console appears at the bottom of your website.
  3. Access the debugging window to monitor the tags firing on your site.
  4. Click cookie_consent_update from the left sidebar.
  5. Ensure that it contains all seven Google Consent Types.

Method 2: Using the In-App GCM Checker and Debug Mode
  1. Log in to your CookieYes account.
  2. Go to Dashboard > Advanced Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Google Consent Mode (GCM) section.
  4. Click the Check now button against Check GCM status to run a configuration check.
  5. Alternatively, you can use the ‘Enable Debug Mode‘ button to display the GCM default status, update status, and timing information directly in your browser console.

If the configuration is correct, you will see a success message stating, ‘No error detected’. If you encounter any errors after running this check, refer to our GCM Troubleshooting Guide to resolve them and check again.

Method 3: Using our Google Consent Mode Checker

Visit the CookieYes Google Consent Mode Checker page, and enter Your Website URL to obtain your GCM status.
