What is IAB TCF v2.2?

The IAB TCF v2.2 is the latest version of IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework. The latest version 2.2 address concerns raised by the Belgian Data Protection Authority and ensures more transparency and control for users.

The key updates of TCF version 2.2 are:

• Removal of the legitimate interest as a legal basis for advertising and content personalization. 
• Transparency in information provided to users including user-friendly description of purposes and features replacing legal text.
• Additional information on vendors such as categories of data collected, retention periods, and the legitimate interest used.
• Disclose of the total number of vendors seeking on the first layer of CMP (consent management platform).
• UI requirements to facilitate users to call back the cookie banner and easily withdraw consent.

All CMPs and vendors are required to be compliant with the requirement of TCF v2.2 by September 30, 2023. CookieYes CMP is an IAB-approved CMP and is compliant with TCF v2.2.
