What is Google Consent Mode V2?
Google Consent Mode V2 is an updated version of Consent Mode, a tool developed by Google that allows websites to communicate users’ cookie consent choices with Google tags.
From October 30, 2023, Consent Mode V2 has added two additional parameters along with the existing ones (analytics_storage and ad_storage). The new parameters are:
- ad_user_data, controls whether user data can be sent to Google for advertising purposes.
- ad_personalization, controls whether personalized advertising can be enabled (for remarketing).
To do for website owners:
- Upgrade to Consent Mode V2
- Implement a Google-certified CMP like CookieYes that supports Consent Mode V2
Here’s how you can implement Google Consent Mode using CookieYes.
If you’re already using consent mode with CookieYes, here’s how you can upgrade to Consent Mode v2.
