How to Implement Multiple Cookie Banners with CookieYes?

Last updated on March 14, 2024

With standards like GDPR in the EU and various US state laws., websites with global audiences must navigate a complex landscape of global privacy compliance. One universal banner for all countries is not enough. Geo-targeting enables the display of multiple cookie banners to visitors based on their location and relevant laws. This document provides step-by-step instructions on using CookieYes to implement US state laws and the GDPR banner. Please note that this feature is exclusively available for Pro and Ultimate users.

Step 1: Enable Multiple Cookie Banners

To implement both US State Law and GDPR banners on your website, navigate to Consent Banner > General, click on the dropdown under Consent Template and select the GDPR & US State Laws option.

Step 2: Configure the GDPR Banner

To configure the GDPR-compliant cookie banner, follow the below steps:

  1. Under Customize, choose GDPR from the dropdown.
  2. Head to the option Geo-target banner and Choose EU Countries & UK or Select Countries to display the banner exclusively to website visitors from those regions.
  3. Customise the banner’s text, design, layout, languages, and other elements to optimise the consent experience for European users affected by the regulation. Refer to our guide for detailed instructions on the Customisation of Cookie Banner.

Step 3: Configure the US State Laws Banner

To configure a US State Laws-compliant cookie banner, follow the below steps:

  1. Under Customize, choose US State Laws from the dropdown.
  2. Go to the Geo-target banner option and Choose US States or Select Countries to limit the US banner to visitors from relevant US states and regions.
  3. Customise this banner’s content, design, etc to meet CCPA/other laws and ensure required opt-out links are present. Refer to our guide for detailed instructions on the Customisation of Cookie Banner.

Step 4: Publish Changes

After configuring and previewing the customised cookie banners for both GDPR and US state laws based on geo-targeting rules, the final vital step is to publish the implementation. Click Publish Changes to make the banners live.
