Why does Google Analytics display less data compared to CookieYes?

Google Analytics data might exclude visitors who haven’t consented to cookies, resulting in a decrease in counts. Since no cookie consent was obtained, no data is recorded for these users.

Google Analytics activates tracking on a website with a cookie banner, only when users accept the associated cookies.

If there is a significant decrease in the count, it could be attributed to two reasons:

  • The user rejects the category or never clicks on the banner.
  • Due to the usage of any exclude filters in Google Analytics, any data that meet the filter’s criteria will not be included in the website’s analytics data, leading to underreported analytics data.
