What is Enhanced Tracking Protection?
Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) is a privacy feature in Mozilla Firefox that blocks or limits third-party tracking mechanisms across websites. It also protects against harmful scripts, like malware that drains your battery.
Key features of Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP):
- Blocks trackers: ETP blocks cookies from known trackers, preventing them from following users across the web. Firefox blocks the following types of trackers and scripts:
- Social media trackers
- Cross-site tracking cookies
- Fingerprinters
- Cryptominers
- Tracking content: Trackers are hidden in ads, videos, and other in-page content.
- Fingerprinting protection: ETP blocks “fingerprints” techniques that try to identify users through their device and browser characteristics (e.g., browser version, screen size, or IP address).
