Updating the CookieYes WordPress Plugin to the New UI

The new UI for the CookieYes WordPress plugin includes new features and enhanced functionality to help you stay compliant with privacy regulations. If you’re using the old UI (Legacy Version), you can update to the new UI without losing your existing configurations.

By updating to the new and improved user interface, you can:

• Display your website’s new cookie consent banner that complies with the WCAG guidelines.
• Set the consent expiration period, enable/disable the cookies prior to the consent, show/hide categories on the banner, light/dark/custom colour scheme, translations for GDPR banner, privacy policy generator and other new free features.
• Use the live preview feature (in three versions: mobile, tablet, and desktop) while customising your banner — you can find this feature in the connected CookieYes web app.
• Connect to the CookieYes web app to gain access to additional features such as cookie scanning, consent logging, etc. (Optional)

If you are updating from the legacy version, note the following:

• Cookie bar shortcodes and other shortcode-based customisations will be replaced with easier customisation methods.
• You can now use custom CSS (available on all paid plans) for the following customisations:
  • Change the font format of the cookie banner.
  • Customise the position of the revisit consent button (From the Right/Left Margin).
  • Change the size of the button.
• The following customisation features will no longer be available:
  • Changing the button to link.
  • Redirecting to a URL on click.
  • Animate cookie banner (On Load/ On Hide).
  • Cookie banner to move with the page scroll.
  • Accept cookie consent on the page scroll or delay action on the cookie banner.
• The GDPR & CCPA option under Select the type of law will be available in the Pro and Ultimate plans.
• The popup layout for cookie banners will only be available in the Pro or Ultimate plans.
• To improve security and simplify cookie management, the feature that allowed scripts to be added under cookie categories will be replaced. You will be able to manually block cookies before obtaining user consent by navigating to Cookie Manager > Add Cookie > Advanced Settings > Script URL Pattern and adding the URL pattern that identifies the script.

To experience the new UI, please ensure that you have updated to the latest version and then update the UI.

To update to the latest version, follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > CookieYes | GDPR Cookie Consent.
2. Click update now.
   

1. Navigate to GDPR Cookie Consent > Review & update.
   
   
2. In the modal that opens up, click Review changes and then click Update to new version to update the UI.

After updating, if you are unsatisfied with the new UI and related changes, CookieYes makes it easy to roll back and return to the old UI.

To roll back to the previous version, follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to WordPress Dashboard > CookieYes Dashboard.
2. Click Switch back to old UI.
