How to add a geo-targeting cookie banner

You can implement geo-targeting cookie banners on your website with CookieYes. With this location-based feature, you can display a cookie banner to website visitors from specific regions or countries.

To get started with CookieYes, create your account. Then, implement a cookie banner on your website.

Please note that the geo-targeting feature is available only in Pro and Ultimate plans.

How to set geo-targeting for GDPR

Step 1. From your Dashboard’s top navigation panel, select Cookie Banner. Then select General from the left panel.

Step 2. Under Geo-target banner, you can select EU Countries & UK to show the banner to only visitors from EU member states and the UK.

Step 3. To show the banner for specific countries alone, click on Select Countries. Search the countries you want to target and select them.

Note: To comply with the GDPR, we recommend that you geo-target the cookie banner to all EU member states and the UK.

Step 4. After you’ve made the required changes, click Publish Changes to save the changes on your live banner.

How to set geo-targeting for US State Laws

If you want to display a ‘Do not sell‘ banner for US State Laws, first implement a US State Laws banner on your website.

Step 1. From your Dashboard’s top navigation panel, select Cookie Banner. Then select General from the left panel.

Step 2. Under Geo-target banner, you can choose United States or Select Countries from the list to show the banner to only visitors from these regions.

Step 3. Now click Publish Changes to save the changes on your live banner.

How to set geo-targeting for GDPR & US State Laws

For the consent template GDPR & US State Laws, you have the option to independently configure geo-targeting for both regulations.

Step 1. From your Dashboard’s top navigation panel, select Cookie Banner. Then select General from the left panel.

Step 2. Configuring Geo-Targeting for GDPR:

  • Within the Consent Template section, select GDPR from the dropdown labelled Customize.
  • Under Geo-target banner, you can choose EU Countries & UK  or Select Countries from the list to show the banner to only visitors from these regions.

Step 3. Configuring Geo-Targeting for US State Laws

  • Within the Consent Template section, select US State Laws from the dropdown labelled Customize.
  • Under Geo-target banner, you can choose the United States or Select Countries from the list to show the banner to only visitors from these regions.

Step 4. Now click Publish Changes to save the changes on your live banner.
