IAB TCF v2.4 is the latest version of IAB Europe's Transparency and Consent Framework. It combines TCF Policies v5.0.b with Technical Specifications v2.4, published on 23 July 2026. The update follows the CNIL's recommendations on cross-device consent and aims to make Features easier for users to understand.
The key updates of TCF version 2.4 are:
- Multi-device scope: publishers can apply a user's choice across their own websites and apps, for example when the user is logged in, but must tell users how far that choice applies.
- Standard explanation text for Features, supplied in the Global Vendor List, clarifying that Features are used only for purposes users already have a choice on.
- Features can no longer be shown next to controls that cannot be switched off.
- An illustration for each Feature to help users understand it.
- Special Feature 2 renamed from "Actively scan device characteristics for identification" to "Identify devices based on information actively requested".
CMPs must implement the new disclosures by 23 Oct 2026 for websites and 23 Feb 2027 for mobile and CTV apps.
