What is opt-out consent?
Opt-out consent is a consent model where user consent is not sought actively and requires the user to opt-out or withdraw their consent at a later time. For example, pre-checked boxes for email subscriptions when a user signs up.
Opt-out consent model is used by data privacy laws like the CCPA which requires businesses to provide consumers with the right to opt-out of the sale of their personal data.
While privacy regulation in the EU, governed by GDPR requires users to have the choice to opt-in or opt-out. In this model, the user has to give explicit consent before any cookies are set on their browser and have the choice to deny consent and opt-out from cookies being set.
