Do I need a CCPA opt-out link?

If you are a business that collects personal information from California residents, you are required to allow consumers to opt-out of the sale or sharing of their personal information, as per the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and its amendment California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)

Businesses are required to:

  • Display a prominent and clearly labelled “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link on their website. Consumers should be able to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information easily via this link.
  • Provide a “Limit the Use of Sensitive Personal Information” link on the website. Businesses can also use a single link to exercise both options i.e. limit the use of sensitive personal information and opt-out of the sale or sharing.
  • Honour opt-out preference signals enabled by users
