In July 2021, Colorado became the third state, following California and Virginia, to pass comprehensive data privacy legislation with the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA). Like the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the CPA grants residents rights over their personal data, such as access, deletion, and opt-out options. However, unlike CPRA, the CPA does not provide a private right of action and is enforced by the Colorado Attorney General and district attorneys.
