Do UK websites need to be GDPR compliant?

Yes, UK websites are required to comply with the UK GDPR. After Brexit, the UK is no longer regulated by the EU GDPR, but instead has its own domestic version called the UK GDPR. However, due to EU GDPR’s extra-territorial scope, UK websites will need to comply with EU GDPR if they process data of EU residents.

As the UK GDPR closely mirrors the EU GDPR with only a few exceptions, websites in the UK have to follow similar requirements as stated in the EU GDPR. These include obtaining consent from website visitors before collecting their personal data, including cookie consent and maintaining an up-to-date privacy policy.
