What is attribution reporting API?

The Attribution Reporting API is a privacy-preserving web platform API proposed by Google as part of the Privacy Sandbox initiative. It enables advertisers and ad tech providers to measure ad conversions in a privacy-preserving way, without relying on third-party cookies. 

This API allows advertisers and ad tech providers to measure conversions in the following scenarios:

  • Ad clicks and views.
  • Ads within a third-party iframe, such as ads that use a third-party ad tech provider.
  • Ads in a first-party context, such as on social networks.
