# GDPR vs Swiss FADP [Infographic]
EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the new [Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP)](https://www.cookieyes.com/blog/switzerland-fadp/) are two key frameworks that shape the landscape of data protection in Europe. 

The revised FADP, which came into effect on September 1, 2023, takes inspiration from the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and incorporates strict penalties for violations, breach notification requirements, and extra-territorial scope.
